Shark Steamer Sale

The Re launch Was Announced Wed. By Officials With Longport Media LLC Who Took Charge Of The ‘Heritage Rock Station’ Formerly Called The Shark And Four Other South Jersey Radio Stations May 13.

To mark its fiftieth anniversary, 103.7 WMGM-FM will re launch August. Twenty-nine as WMGM Rocks : South Jersey’s Home For The Best Rock.

The relaunch was announced Wed. by officers with Longport Media LLC who took charge of the “heritage rock station” previously known as The Shark and 4 other South Jersey radio stations May thirteen.

“The Shark has been harpooned,” recounted Dave Coskey, president of Longport Media. “WMGM has outlined rock for this area for at least twenty years, and our heritage call letters are something we are extremely proud of. The development of 103.7 will permit us to further position WMGM as the premier station for rock ‘n’ roll in South Jersey and all our coverage areas.”

According to corporate officers, the re launch includes more than a new name.

The station will begin playing a revamped playlist that will include classic-rock favorites like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. However , the station’s musical preferences have expanded to include current rock artists like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Dave Matthews Band, the Foo Wrestlers and others.

Coskey said the re-branding has begun with the integration of more recent artists throughout the day.

“We just felt there had been a piece missing in South Jersey … A station playing new rock and old rock,” Coskey related.

Operations Director Paul Kelly announced there is only 1 criteria when it comes to what music will blast thru the airwaves : “If it rocks, we’re going to play it.”

Together with new music, list of radio stations will start local, in-house programming with more live DJs, bucking a local and national trend of reducing on-air personalities to save cash.

The new lineup :

“The Morning Edge” with JoJo and Scotty will air weekdays from six to 10 a.m.

Sean Patrick will be live from ten a.m. To 3 p.m.

Matt Murray will host from 3 to 7 p.m.

Nikki Marra will round out the evening from 7 p.m. To midnight.

The morning show marks a return for the team of Scott Reilly and Joe Borsello, who previously hosted a morning show on WWAC 102.7-FM, which is also owned by Longport Media. Their morning show was canceled when the station changed formats from modern rock to Top 40 under previous possession.

Longport Media also owns news-talk station WOND-AM 1400, Spanish station WBSS-AM 1490 and classic hits station WTKU-FM 98.3.

Coskey related Longport Media officers felt the change to WMGM was mandatory, but accepted there had been a risk in changing a station which has existed virtually three decades.

“Obviously there’s a gamble anytime you make a change,” he said. “We think that could be a change that’s way overdue in the market, and we are terribly optimistic.” as reported tagza.com.
