Hanoi, Hue, tropical beaches, Ho Chi Minh City, four World Heritage areas, natural scenery, boat cruises, floating markets, and Cu Chi tunnels.
Our Vietnam holiday starts with two days in Hanoi
Upon arrival at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi, our staff will be waiting to greet you and transfer by a private car to your hotel. You'll have time to relax after your flight followed by a "Welcome" dinner at a good restaurant in a colonial building. In the evening, you"ll have tickets for a performance of traditional Water Puppetry.
After breakfast, your guide will arrive to show you the sights of Hanoi, covering the Van Mieu Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Ngoc Son temple, and Hanoi"s Old Quarter and so on.
How you get around is entirely up to you. You can be driven, walk, ride in a cyclo.
Meals: one breakfast, one lunch and one dinner
Escort/guide: transfer from airport to hotel and evening, and the following daytime
Two-day cruise in Ha Long Bay and another night in Hanoi
It takes about a three and a half hours drive to Ha Long Bay, but a comfortable car and an experienced guide to explain the rural life of the Red River Delta makes the time run fast. Your boat will be a traditional-style wooden junk or the Emeraude, a luxury replica of the paddle Steamers.
Your junk will take you to the islands and caves with time for swimming, fishing, taking spectacular photos, or venturing into some of the sea level grottoes in a small sampan, all weather permitting, of course.
Meals: two breakfasts, two lunches and one dinner
Guide: fully escorted
Two nights in Hue
You'll take your noon flight to Hue. When you arrive, a car and your guide will meet to drive you to the Imperial City of Hue. The main attractions are the Citadel, Dong Ba market, the Royal Tombs and the unique ‘garden houses". You"ll enjoy dinner in one of the unique garden houses on the second evening where you'll find out the distinctive characteristics of classic Hue cuisine.
Meals: two breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner
Guide: transfer to Hanoi airport, fully escorted thereafter
Two nights in the ancient town of Hoi An
You"ll travel by road to Danang. On the way you"ll cross the high mountain pass of Hai Van - the splendid views of Lang Co beach, village and lagoon.
You'll have visits to Cham Museum, Hoi An-charming town and the mysterious My Son Sanctuary.
Meals: two breakfasts and one lunch
Guide: daytime on the first day, and the morning of the second day
Four nights in Ho Chi Minh City and one in the Mekong Delta
An afternoon flight takes you to bustling Ho Chi Minh City.
The main attractions should be the History Museum, the Museum of War Remnants, Post Office,China town, Ben Thanh market, the Jade Emperor Temple, and a workshop making high quality lacquerware furniture and articles.
A morning drive will take you to Tay Ninh in time to watch the mid-day ceremony at the Cao Dai Holy See followed by a visit to the famous Cu Chi tunnels.
Then a drive will take you to the Mekong. From there, you"ll cruise the Mekong River to visit the fruit orchards, traditional family-run brick kilns, and wide range of varied cottage industries. A workshop making the huge coffins unique to the Mekong is particularly interesting. You"ll spend that night in Can Tho, the ‘capital" of the Mekong.
Your following morning starts with a visit to the liveliest floating market at Cai Rang before returning to land and driving back to Ho Chi Minh City. You'll spend another night in Ho Chi Minh City.
Meals: five breakfasts, four lunches and one dinner

Meals: one breakfast
This is an example of one of our tailor-made Vietnam holidays - We"ll be pleased to design similar luxury vacations or value-for-money holidays with dates, itinerary, luxury travel and Vietnam travel information, all customised to your personal preferences.
Day 1: Hanoi arrival (G)
Arriving at Noi Bai airport, you'll be met and driven to your hotel. You'll have time to relax after your journey. In the evening, you'll have tickets for a performance of traditional Water Puppetry, an art form unique to northern Vietnam, and a good, light-hearted introduction to its rural culture. You'll spend the night in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi City Tour (B, L, G)
You'll have the whole day to explore Vietnam's capital city. Your guide will take you to the Temple of Literature, the first university in Vietnam dating back to the 11th century, and a popular attraction, Ho Chi Minh complex, including Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the president palace, his house on stilt, the One Pillar pagoda and his museum. You'll then drive to the excellent Ethnology Museum for an overview of Vietnam's 54 distinct ethnic groups.
After lunch, you'll visit the serene Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest in Hanoi, on the banks of Hanoi's Ho Tay (West) Lake. You'll also call in at the bustling Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Ngoc Son temple. The Old Quarter is a magnet for visitors, a maze of shopping streets and restaurants with a hotchpotch of architecture - traditional tube houses, religious buildings, artisans' workshops and cottages, colonial houses and modern concrete edifices. You'll spend your night in Hanoi.
Day 3: Hanoi/Ha Long Bay (B, L, D, DP)
After an early breakfast, you'll leave for Ha Long Bay. This takes roughly 3.5 hours. You may stop en-route to admire the local scenery. Arrive at the port around 11:30am and board the wooden boat. Begin sailing and pass through magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons' teeth. After lunch, your boat cruise will take you first to the busy World Heritage area and then to some of the less well-known grottoes and caves. If weather permits, you'll be able to swim, fish, climb a hill (not a mountain!) for an overview of the Bay's remarkable seascape, or venture into some of the sea level caves in a small sampan. All your meals will be provided on board, usually based on fresh seafood, and you'll sleep in a twin/double cabin with an en suite toilet and shower.
Day 4: Ha Long Bay/Hanoi (Brunch, DP)
Getting up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise and the fresh air, you'll then cruise to see the floating village before having lunch. Your boat will dock around noon and you'll leave for Hanoi. You'll arrive at your hotel in Hanoi at about 4pm. You'll spend the night in Hanoi.
Day 5: Hanoi/Hue (B, G)
In the morning, you'll have free time to stroll around the Old Quarter until your private car and drive arrives to take you to Noi Bai airport for your noon flight to Hue. Upon arrival at Phu Bai airport, your guide will meet and transfer you to your hotel. After that, your guide will take you on a tour of Hue's ancient citadel - Vietnam's former imperial capital and a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site. With an area of 500ha and a system of three circles of ramparts, this citadel is far more elaborate than those constructed by previous empires. You'll begin with a stroll around the area between the Citadel's massive walls and the defensive moat, now filled with lotus flowers. You'll then enter via the Noon Gate to wander around the Thai Hoa Palace, the Pavilion housing the Nine Urns of the Nguyen rulers, and the remains of the Royal Palaces. You'll then back across the river to modern Hue and the bustling Dong Ba market. You'll spend the night in Hue.
Day 6: Hue (B, L, D, G)
Your morning will be taken up by a cruise along the Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda, and then by road to the Royal Tombs of Emperor Minh Mang and, in the afternoon, Emperor Khai Dinh. From there, you'll return to Hue to visit one of city's ‘garden houses' and then return to your hotel to freshen-up. In the evening, you'll sit down for dinner in the pleasant surroundings and a comfortable atmosphere of another of the garden houses. You'll spend the night in Hue.
Day 7: Hue/Hoi An (B, L, G)
In the morning, your car and driver will take you to Danang. On the way, you"ll cross the Hai Van mountain pass. The views from the top are excellent – you should be able to see Lang Co beach and village, and the lagoon far below, with Danang spread out before you to the south.
Upon arriving in Danang, you'll have a brief look at the remarkable Hindu statuary in the Cham Museum. You'll arrive at Hoi An around noon time.
